My hope this season is that you find it in your soul to be the person you were called to be…that generosity and unconditional love would become common habits in your life. I’ve traveled all over the world the last 30 something years and I run into people all over looking to me to change their circumstance in life. My goal is not create a giant fan base and to increase product sales. I am not the answer to all you challenges in life. My goal is simple…to see you step into the life you were called to live.

Phil Jackson with Kobe Bryant

It’s interesting when I think about a coach’s job. Coaches don’t make touchdowns, slam dunks or home runs. The coach’s priority is to get the players to trust themselves and each other to be the best player possible…to believe in the team. The other day I drove by a basketball court in my old neighborhood. I saw Kobe jerseys, Iverson jerseys, and even an old Scottie Pippen jersey. But, not one Phil Jackson suit/shirt/tie. Phil Jackson understood that it was not his job to be the superstar…it was his job to get the immature kid with his head in the stars to buckle down, learn discipline and teamwork…and then, eventually, inevitably become a superstar.

Despite their tremendous talent, (NBA players) are still, by and large, young adults, seeking validation from an authority figure, and there is no greater authority figure on a team than the coach. Needless to say, in today’s warped, self-indulgent climate, too many players couldn’t care less about appeasing the coach.” – Phil Jackson (Retired NBA Coach)

Most people want to make a difference. Most people want to help to make things better. Most people would like to find a way to change the world. But we don’t always know where to start. Start by focusing on the basics. The basics in this life are simple…love God, love people. These two work hand in hand. You can’t love God without loving people and vise versa. Connect and listen to the coach of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. Embrace His generosity and compassion and go and do likewise.

I know that sometimes when we speak of loving our neighbors, we think of the nice ones first. We think of the cute children and nice elderly woman knitting scarves. However, thinking beyond the easy and into the emotionally difficult is the difference between high school ball and the major leagues. Being generous to those who least deserve it and to those who may not even always say thank you are sometimes the most difficult situations in life. However, is this not the same compassion shown us.

This Christmas season, remember…it’s not about you. It’s not about the new iPad, or even the Christmas ham. It’s about remembering God’s love for us and the challenge to reciprocate that love to each person we come in contact with.

Now go and change the world. Be the champion you were called to be. Embrace the love of God and through that love, embrace those around you. I believe in you.

    Tim,
This is a great article. It made me understand how much people need someone who takes time speaking life into them? It took me back about six years ago when I was working that day at this Company call UpperDeck. I meet with this young man name Ryan at work. I saw something in him; here he was about twenty-one years of age. I saw that he took his job very serious he was managing this site in very high standards. So I decided to make small talk with him, so I ask him do you like working for our Company. He said yes. So I told him I see that you take your job very seriously. You remind me of my son, his about your age he works and goes to college. So I when about telling him about my son Michael how I will tell him how important it is growing up and being educated will have a big impact in his life. It will reflect who you are. Make sure you choose the right path in your surroundings at home or at work in your play time. You should start thinking about your future out there life could take you into different roads. I will keep telling my son you choose? Partying or having an education. When you are in your twenties life seems a lots of fun. Partying is so much fun everything out there seems fun. But when you are having so much fun in partying. Don’t let life hit you in your behind. Life could go very fast when we become young adults and we do not see our surrounding. When you look back you are going to ask yourself what I did in my twenties. I always told my son Michael think ahead see yourself ten years from now. Where are you going to be when you hit your thirties? Take advantage of going to school later on it will pay off for you will be older and wiser you could still have a lots of fun like going to vacations and enjoying your family. It will take you to a better future with a very good paying job. There are a lot of people around the world that wish they could live here in the USA, and take advanege of going to school. I kept talking to him about life. So I told Ryan I see how you represent yourself, I see you that you could grow in this Company handle a bigger site and manage it. Tim, Just the other day about two months ago here I was talking to Ryan at this Law Firm in down town that he manages. His now twenty-six years old same as my son Michael. We’re both looking out the window from the twenty-second floor and seeing how beautiful San Diego looks from up here. We had a small talk again, I told him you look tired and he told me from working and having to go to college. He told me, I have been doing this every day working and going to school can’t wait to finish. Then he told me, Sylvia you remember when I was working for Upper- Deck years ago when you said to me that you will see me managing a bigger place. So here I am. So I smile at him and totally forgot that I had said that to him. I look back now he was just in the beginning of his twenties. He also said to me, I’m about to finish with school and I want to applied for other Company I always wanted to work there. I just told him keep dream big. He told me he wasn’t sure if he could get a job there with the Company. I said why not here you are twenty-six of age, managing this law firm and managing people that work under you. Believe me working in a law firm is not easy. I told him who won’t hire a person like you who is very young and has a great background, Your personally tells a lot about you. You have a great advanege already you’re back ground here working with our Company for six years and finishing College. You’re ahead from a lot of people out there. So I just said to him keep dreaming big you came a long ways. He finished by telling me his first one going to college from his family.
Tim here is the point, you’re article just reminded me that I always had it in my heart to help others in need. Either from just speaking life into a young person or just listening to that orderly lady talking about her pass times making her feel loved. I never knew that I was going to turn one of my biggest setbacks growing up as a kid, to helping others in need. Speaking life into the young adults making sure they don’t make the same mistake I did not having an education. But know that I am older I understand this is the works of our Father God in heaven who has open my heart to understand His love for us and to love others, as we grow in Him by loving Him and trusting Him. So that could learn how to pass on His love.
Tim thank you, for your time and being our life coach making sure we make a step forward, into trusting ourselves into Gods plans. (WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE – MT 19:26)

Salute to the finest Coach in America!!!
Friends all across the World I would like to share a John 3:16 testimony, but first wan’t to support Tim’s faithful ministry reaching the lost all over the World. It says in the infalliable word IIIJohn 1:5-8 Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brother, strangers as they are, who testified to your love before the church, You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God. For they have gone for the sake of the name acepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth. Cont.. says in Romance 10:14-17 ”How then will they call on him n whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? An how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the FEET of those who preach the good news! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ”Lord who has believed what he has heard from us? So faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ”. In Memory of my brother Tony Juarez 6/23/70-7/10/02 The article in the paper stated that he was born in San Diego, but that was a mistake, He was born in Los Angeles General Hosp, Please read Romans 6:23 & Romans 7:10
